Construction of a railway turntable, Ashdod and Tzefa

What is a railway turntable? In the past, when the steam locomotives were used to transport the trains, it was difficult to operate the steam in both directions in the same way. As a result, the locomotive had to be physically rotated when it reached the final stop. Turning the locomotive around on a large turntable on which was positioned the rail resolved the problem. The locomotive would mount the turntable, turn and continue in the opposite direction.

Olenik prepared and built the turntables in Ashdod and Viper. As part of the project, Olenik constructed the reinforced concrete foundation of the railway turntable, sealed the underground parts, drilled concrete piles and more.
