Project Description

Grade separation No. 13 is being constructed to eliminate the at-grade crossing of an access road near Moshav Habonim and the Haifa-Tel Aviv railway line (the Coastal Railway). The separation includes a bridge approximately 123 m long and 13.4 m wide over the railway strip. Beyond the bridge, a road embankment with sloped retaining walls is planned.

The planned bridge comprises 4 spans: end spans of 32.2 m and 22.2 m, and interior spans of 32 m and 34.2 m, totaling 122.7 m (measured between abutment walls).

The road passing over the Coastal Railway includes 2 lanes, each 3 m wide.

Beneath the bridge pass 2 existing railway tracks, 2 planned high-speed tracks, planned access roads and service roads, drainage channels, and existing and planned railway infrastructure.

The horizontal alignment of the bridge is a horizontal curve composed of two radial segments (bridge axis) of approximately 206 meters and 90 meters, with a straight segment of about 10 meters between them.

The following works were executed as part of the project:

Construction of a road bridge, 121 meters long and 11.2 meters wide, over the railway strip, including existing and planned tracks.

Foundation and shoring works using vertical bored and cast-in-place piles on site, including stabilization of excavation walls with bentonite and protective casings.

Paving of temporary and permanent roads and upgrading of existing roads.

Relocation of existing Bezeq and electricity systems.

Installation of a lighting system and execution of landscape rehabilitation, gardening, and irrigation works.

Elimination of the road-rail crossing after the bridge is opened to traffic.
