Base MK 148 is located near Highway 4 and covers an area of over 700 dunams. Soil and soil gas investigations were carried out in the area, which indicated soil contamination originating from fuels. Based on the findings of the investigation, the Environmental Services Company began carrying out rehabilitation work in the affected area.
In addition, the site contains many structures of various types and sizes, including mobile structures, fences, concrete, and piles of various types of waste scattered throughout the area, such as roads, sidewalks, concrete surfaces, paved surfaces, light poles, telephone poles, and so on. On the structures and in the area itself, there are asbestos cement and friable boards and fragments.
Due to its status as a company with the licenses (asbestos license), permits (toxic permit for pesticides), the necessary equipment (emergency medical equipment, organic transportation system), and the required professional human capital, it was chosen.
